“Brilliantly acted and beautifully presented.”

- The Straits Times

Displaced Persons’ Welcome Dinner is a multidisciplinary theatrical work set against the backdrop of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, investigating the realities of the aid industry.

Displaced Persons’ Welcome Dinner was commissioned by SIFA 2019.

One of the cool things about being commissioned by a festival is that you tend to get more time for rehearsal than usual.

One of the downsides is that you get less shows than you’d have in a regular performance run.

All told, we rehearsed for 12 weeks.

We performed 5 times.

Neither felt like enough.

This is my favourite photo of my character, Tim. It was taken by our musical director, Weish (of .gif fame), from the musicians’ area at the bottom of the stage.
